Separate Spring and Summer Proven Winners® National Combinations give growers and retailers more opportunities for sales!
One of Proven Winners® most successful consumer promotions is the National Combinations program, which is heavily marketed to consumers.
“This year, Proven Winners expects there will be 1 billion impressions seen for the two new National Combinations,” explains Amber Coch, Garden Ready Sales Manager and “40 Under 40” upcoming industry professional as recognized by industry publication GPN.
Proven Winners promotes the National Combinations annually in consumer advertising and its popular “Gardener’s Idea Book.”
This year, Proven Winners is promoting two National Combinations — one for Spring (Evening Breeze) and one for Summer (Summer Breeze).
“Summer Breeze” was developed to help boost sales in the summer, which is a huge opportunity for retailers,” says Coch. “Last year, we had a bad spring and a great summer, and those retailers who stayed open had good weather and a lot of opportunity for summer sales.”
“Of all the combinations we sell, our top three every year are the National Combinations from various years – that’s how powerful the brand marketing is,” she notes.
Evening Breeze combines Spring varieties such as Superbells® Evening Star Calibrachoa, Snowstorm® Snow Globe™ Sutera/Bacopa and Superbena® Royale Plum Wine Verbena.
Summer Breeze heats up the color with Luscious® Citrus Blend™ Lantana, Goldilocks Rocks® Bidens and Superbena® Royale Red Verbena
Some of the success of the National Combination program is due to the way the combinations are selected. Growers design the combinations and Proven Winners asks consumers to vote for their favorites. “This is big, because then we already know the combinations that consumers like,” Coch says.
Evening Breeze, for Spring, combines three favorite varieties: Superbells® Evening Star Calibrachoa, Snowstorm® Snow Globe™ Sutera and Superbena® Royale Plum Wine Verbena. This combination can be grown early for Mother’s Day.
Coch points out that growers should grow Summer Breeze later, as it is designed to be at its peak for summer, not in early spring. Its heat-loving components include Luscious® Citrus Blend™ Lantana, Goldilocks Rocks® Bidens and Superbena® Royale Red Verbena.
Four Star makes growing the National Combinations easy, by offering them both as Bundled Combinations and by providing detailed Culture Guides for each combination. Plus, the Grower Team is available for questions.
Both National Combinations also are available in various sizes of hanging baskets and upright containers, making them useful for any retailer’s 2016 selling program.
