General Information GROWING TIPS

This unique plant is both highly ornamental and edible. It is flat-leaf garlic chive with a soft onion and garlic flavor. The leaves and flowers are edible and can be harvested from spring into early fall. It has great heat and humidity tolerance as well. It has fragrant foliage that will attract bees and butterflies, and resist deer. The more it's harvested, the better it grows. Best grown in the landscape, although a large container can work as well.

This is a great garden plant, but is also a wonderful container plant.

Maintenance Notes

Once planted there is little maintenance needed during the season. An application of a plant food should be applied at planting and then again every spring. Flower stems can be trimmed back after they are done blooming. Leaves can be harvested as long as they are available. This perennial will grow larger in year two, after it is well-established.
