Four Star’s Bundled Combination Kits come in more than 300 combinations, many of which are ideally suited to every U.S. region.  Thanks to the real-time tracking of actual sales at retail, we are able to rank the best selling, most popular combinations for every area of the country. These rankings consider multiple years of sales data, customer feedback to regional sales representatives and performance attributes, such as heat- and drought-tolerance, according to Angie VanWashenova, Internal Sales Supervisor.

“We understand that growing attention-grabbing hanging baskets or patio pots cannot be a one size fits all model,” she says.  “That is why we offer over 300 beautiful combinations with a wide variety of color mixes, textures and shapes for our growers.”

Several best-selling recipes have become available as Bundled Combinations for 2020.  An example is Belle Ambition.  “This combo was a top seller for us in the retail segment, and we expect to see that bundled kit be a favorite this year with growers as well,” adds VanWashenova.  Belle Ambition is pictured at right.

Regional favorites

All Four Star recipes have been trialed and tested to appeal to growers so that they are easy to grow and will flourish in all regions for home gardeners.  But some favorites have emerged in each region.

Northeast (CT, DE, MA, MD, ME, NH, NJ, NY, PA, RI, VA, VT)
Four Star’s sales data shows that Avalon, Sweet Stars, Grand Traverse, Bermuda Skies, Bahama Beach and Sparkle and Glow are the top picks. For extended-season recipes, Pumpkin Spice Latte, Beach Sunset and Enchanted Garden lead the pack.

Sweet Stars is a popular choice in the Northeast U.S.

Midwest (IA, IL, IN, MI, MN, NE, ND, OH, SD, WI)
Above & Beyond, Candy Store, Grand Traverse, Bahama Beach, Bermuda Skies and Lilac Festival rank high with customers in the Midwest for their strong performance through different seasons.

Gardeners in the Midwest are buying combinations like Candy Store.

Central (AR, CO, LA, KS, MO, MS, MT, OK, TX, WY)
The list of best sellers that flourish in the hot, humid and dry weather of the Central region includes Grand Traverse, Iguana Envy, Patrick’s Punch and Breathtaking. Lazy River is a beautiful heat-loving combination, also. 

The bright contrasts of Breathtaking resonates with gardeners in the Central U.S.

West (AZ, CA, ID, NM, NV, OR, UT, WA)
Western customers enjoy the strong performance of the plants that make up Livin’ on the Edge, Hot Springs, Let’s Get Together, Candy Store and Easy on the Eyes.

South (AL, FL, GA, KY, NC, SC, WV)
The South’s hot and humid conditions are ideal for these popular recipes: Always Welcome, Beach Sunset, Fired Up!, Sweet as Honey and Sun Kissed. Drought-tolerant varieties like Blue My Mind® Evolvulus and the Diamond series Euphorbia are both included in Blow Me a Kiss and Lazy River, both favorites of customers in the South.

The varieties in Beach Sunset thrive in the South’s sunny and hot climate.

Coast to coast favorite recipes

Some combinations are popular throughout the country, just like Above & Beyond.

Growers all over the country can be sure to find combinations that will work best for them based on regionality and season. Above & Beyond, a popular combination featuring some of the Supertunia® series’ best performers, will naturally have a different growing season in Georgia than in Wisconsin. However, Above & Beyond, along with other finished combinations such as Grand Traverse, Sunglasses, Evening Breeze, Fruit Salad, Gloria Rose, Bahama Beach, Lilac Festival, Bermuda Skies and Evening Breeze continue to be top sellers in the Bundled Combination Kit program each year, maintaining popularity in every region of the U.S.
